Dipika Kakkar’s Drama: Sony, Stop Imposing It on Those Who Are Not Concerned, Also Let People Think About Women’s Real Problems

Usually, I don’t watch programs like Master Chef. I am not even interested in this topic. But, sometimes, some things that irritate is drama, and that too when it is forcefully shown to the audience. Whether you watch the program or not, you are forced to see if you watch other programs of the channels. Here, I am talking about Sony TV’s upcoming program “Celebrity Master Chef”.

While watching any program on Sony TV channel, advertisements for “Celebrity Masterchef” appear and everyone is forced to see whether he or she is interested in this so-called reality show or not. In one ad, actress Dipika Kakkar suddenly starts crying and then Farah Khan asks “Ro kyo rahe ho itna” (why are you crying so much). Dipika replies, “Mein har us lady ko represent karna chahti hoon, jinhe yeh kehkar dabaya jata hai, khana hi to banana hai, haan hoon mein home cook” (I want to represent all those ladies who are suppressed by saying that you have to cook food only, yes, I am a home cook).

I don’t know what others think about it, but for me, it is irritating rather than impressive. And, I am not alone who is thinking this. It is news that she is being criticized by many netizens on X (Twitter). Really, she is representing some women who are being suppressed? Are some women really suppressed for the reason that they have to cook food? Nah, however, it is true that women were suppressed in the past and they are being today also in some backward areas. But, there are multiple reasons one of which is the belief of some people that a woman’s work is just to cook food (but it doesn’t mean that cooking food is thought to be inferior). Besides, it is some people’s mentality to see women as inferior. But, saying that “you have to cook food only” can be a random statement of some people but you say that women are being suppressed by saying this, which is like imagining a problem that does not exist or very little exists and you start glorifying yourself that you are representing them. It is like ignoring the actual problems of women by presenting this superficial problem.

Besides, if there are some women who are suppressed for the aforesaid reason, have such women given Mrs. Dipika authority to represent them? A few of them may get emotional but I am sure that many of them would not even give a damn to it.

And, this is being said by that woman who is enjoying all facilities of life and is free to do anything. Just, by staying in an AC palace, it is easy to imagine any problem and glorify yourself that you are the torch bearer of something.

When she was trolled by some netizens, she replied “You hate me, you like me but you cannot ignore me." We know Mrs. Dipika Kakkar that you have done this so that no one could ignore you. So, your statement has confirmed that you are doing all this high-voltage drama to get attention. But, it would have been better if you had tried to get attention through your cooking skills, not your acting skills. If your intention is genuine, then also you should rethink this so that the actual problems of women could be addressed.

However, I don’t care what they present in the so-called reality show. But, why are they irritating the people like me, who don’t have anything to do with that show but are forced to see the drama every day till that show is telecasted? I am waiting for this show, not because I have to see it but because I want to get that nonsense ad stopped as soon as possible. The more problematic is to impose this high-voltage drama on everyone who doesn’t have anything to do with it.

Dear Sony, this drama will not motivate people like me to watch that show even when I have no interest in it but may demotivate me to see other shows of Sony also. Right now, I have started muting my TV when this ad appears.

Waiting for an early start especially that episode, not because of interest but so that I could get rid of this ad, which I don’t want to see.
